[Natasha wraps her hands with tape, watching Thor just out of the corner of her eye. She's not entirely sure that she's the best match for him training, but... in some ways, that's all the more reason to practice, isn't it?
[It's certainly been a while since Thor properly trained with any of the Avengers. Two years and change. A lot has happened in between, enough so that he's out of sync with their habits and routines now. It only makes sense to pick up where he left off.
At Natasha's question Thor hums in thought, throwing aside his jacket.]
Yeah - what it's like having someone come at me from the right.
[Thor's been spending a bit more time on the Blue Fish now that the festival is over. It's likely the Fleet will pull out of this system soon, so he works on restocking the food supplies. He also has newly commissioned weaponry to add to the security area.
That's where Katara can find him today, shoving a new rack alongside the guns and sliding a number of swords into it. It's definitely more satisfying to have blades in here as well as firearms.]
[ Stomping. At first, she thought she was imagining it.
That was yesterday. But it hasn't stopped. It happened this morning, again, the walls of the ship echoing as Thor stomped by, and it's happening again this evening. Katara pauses in her preparation of the evening's meal and frowns in concern. She'd let it go yesterday, but whatever was bothering Thor (obviously, something was bother him) hadn't gone away.
She didn't think twice about going after the obviously angry god, her only consideration was to wipe the knife clean before putting it down on the counter and hurrying out after the sound of Thor passing by in the ship's hallways. He's already made considerable progress down the hall, and she hurries after him. ]
[Thor is not trying to telegraph his bad mood everywhere. He just tends to forget that he's in one, only to have the memory of his fight with Loki butt in and set him scowling again. Having grown up in gilded halls with marbled floors, he isn't quite clued in to the idea that his stalking around might actually cause a lot of noise.
He was heading down the corridor to the shuttle bay, thinking to try and do something useful in his office when Katara's voice sounds out behind him. Thor halts and looks back over his shoulder, his dour look changing into something more neutral.]
[Thor in turn takes a while to respond to the message. For a while he just stares at it, knowing there's no truthful response he can give that's reassuring. Yet he can't stumble on this forever, not in this place where what happened at home is distant and the quarters were so close. Not when he has work that needs to be done.
[It's been a long couple of weeks, but the Vision is finally awake again - and one of the first things he'd heard about was that something had happened with Thor and Loki. So he shoots off a quick text once he's taken care of more immediate problems.]
My apologies for the long nap. Are you all right? Is there anything I should be aware of?
[Frankly, Vision's coma had been the only thing preventing Thor from contacting the android sooner. Part of him dreaded the idea of it but it was nowhere near strong enough to override his need to see his friend once more.
Vision just comes right out the gate with the hard questions, leaving Thor unclear on what to say next. His conversation with Natasha rings in his ears.]
I'm glad to hear you're awake again, my friend. I'm unharmed - but I have remembered more from home.
As you are most likely aware, an unusual opportunity has presented itself. I had always treated the question of whether I would stay or return home as academic, as we had no direct control over such matters. However, there is now a very real possibility that we may have the ability to make that choice. Given that that is the case, I wish to make an informed choice rather than an ignorant one.
It seems to me that you are farther along in the timeline than I am. Is this correct? If so, I am curious as to how much damage would be done if I chose to remain, compared to if I returned. It is always my intent to preserve life, but - sa with Mr. Stark's disastrous creation of Ultron - I am also aware that intent does not guarantee results. As it stands, I would choose to return home, knowing I have responsibilities there and that staying would be selfish; I have often maintained that my life here is better not only due to the acceptance of my fellow passengers but because I understand far better than I do at home the difference between wanting to blend in and needing that very acceptance. I would regret giving that understanding up, but I realize it may be necessary.
My life here is beautiful, but a thing is not beautiful because it lasts. Transience only makes a thing more valuable.
I would value your input on this matter. Thank you in advance.
[It takes at least an hour for Thor to reply to this. Text is a terrible format for him, leaving aside all the timeline issues that compound on it. At the same time he doesn't want to give a rash response.
Honestly he really wants a drink before he does this but manages to shove the impulse down.]
you're right about the timelines. i'm even further than i was when we last spoke. i don't know that any damage can truly be done, if i have already lived through the time you haven't yet returned to.
if you want to stay, you should. it will not change what i have already seen.
and if you want to know what that future is, i will tell you.

Because he can breathe in space.
Because he attacked their link to the Atroma.
Because he's her shipmate and she would like to understand what the heck he can actually do.
And because now she understands why he was sick.
Basically, someone needs to go WTH at him, and Katara is up for that job.
She just needs to find him first. ]
