[ A normal person might hesitate at yelling at someone Thor's size, let alone someone Thor's size with a sword in his hand.
Katara is a normal person. But she is also convinced that Thor is someone who protects, she's seen his heart as they discussed loss on the desert planet. She's not afraid of him, not because she doubts his strength, but because she is sure of it.
So she basically just hesitates to draw a breath, her arms folded over her chest as she frowns at him. ]
[Thor blinks, looking over at the doorway where Katara stands now. He lets the sword fall into place in the racks before stepping back from them. The question is a bit out of left field and his bemusement shows on his face.]
Well, yes, I can. Though I wouldn't want to do it for long. [He says it in such a matter of fact way that you might nearly forget you're talking about an outlandish concept like breathing in space. Something occurs to him then, tipping his head to the side a bit.] You had the dream, then?
Because there are few good reasons to be out there.
[He doesn't need to breathe air, but he does need to eat and sleep eventually. If he's lost in space, there's a good chance neither of those things will happen.]
[ Look, there was a lot to process there about living with someone who claims to be a god and how that aligns with what she sensed in his chi pathways and how that played into what he told her before about his people (were they all gods? was he in charge of them because he WAS a god? ...what even are gods anyway?
But this was clearly the most important thing to ask. ]
...that's not at all the same thing. One is a sound and the other is part of an element.
[ She blinks and shakes her head. ] Or -- your world could just be different, which is... [ weird, but probably just 'weird' because it has to do with lightning and lightning sucks ] ...you know, fine.
[It's best not to try and get a straight answer out of Thor for how his lightning works. In the end it boils down to magic and power, the birthright of Asgardian gods. He nods, a picture of reason.]
Most likely. Asgard differs from the other worlds within my own universe, before even thinking about those elsewhere.
[ So she's just going to chalk it up to world differences for now, because that's what makes a lot more sense than the god of thunder and the god of lightning being the same thing. ]
Alright, then. [ ...but now she's a little distracted. ] Have you always been able to control lightning?
When I was a child? [What else could it mean!] Truthfully I don't remember when I first showed signs of it. I was given my hammer when I came of age, which is when I started using lightning in battle. I didn't do anything like that before then.

Though this time it was necessary.

Right. Attacking the Marsiva. We should probably talk about that.
...also, what's with the lightning?
[ Just... still not over this. Because how was there LIGHTNING in SPACE? ]

[The lightning is such an intrinsic, obvious thing to Thor that he doesn't know what she's asking.]

Why can you make lightning?

[It's only a matter of semantics and titles.]
After all one follows the other.

[It was only the loss of that weapon that truly awakened Thor to the fact that his power was solely his, and not in need of a focusing tool.]

[ Seriously, what was she talking to right now. ]
